Technology
Technological innovations assist Lewis Tankers in striving to offer customers the highest possible levels of safety, security, service, and management information. Lewis Tanker’s performance is regularly audited and benchmarked by many of its key customers.

Lewis Tankers has pioneered the use of telematics in high-value liquid transportation. The system remotely monitors vehicles in the fleet in real-time, showing where it is, where it has been, how fast it is travelling – and even if the driver is wearing a seat belt. If required, the system can be set to raise an alarm should the vehicle leave its intended route. It is anticipated that, by the end of 2008, the majority of vehicles in the fleet will be fitted with telematics.

These advances are aimed at ensuring that all deliveries are made on time, in full, securely and safely.

Telematics also have the environmental benefit of allowing Lewis Tankers to analyse driving patterns and help drivers improve their fuel efficiency.

The latest step forward in telematics is the introduction of a new system that will give customers a direct online link to real-time management information, and, when the law allows it, facilitate the ability to remotely bring a vehicle to a halt in a safe and controlled manner.
